Factory Mutual Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet: Reference section 22.214.171.124 B in the link below to learn how any external seam clamp designed to fit a specific profile can be used as a wind reinforcement device.
Design wind speeds and code requisites are upgraded over the years. What is a building owner to do upon discovering that his roof is no longer code-compliant and may be in danger of wind damage or blow-off?
In some situations, the application of wind clamps is highly engineered and extensively tested, while in others it is a “prescriptive” remedy. S-5! offers cost-effective solutions in both categories. They can preserve the roof’s integrity while significantly upgrading its wind uplift resistance as much as 3X for pennies per square foot of roof area.
Be sure to check out the many other features on the clamp overview page.
S-5! WindClamps are designed with the same dependable, non-penetrating technology as our entire line of clamps. They utilize one setscrew for easy installation and are tailored to fit your roof profile to provide the best fit for increased wind-uplift performance.
Designed for MBCI Double-Lok® and similar profiles
Partially thread the setscrew into the clamp by hand. Position the clamp on the seam. Tighten the setscrew using a screw gun and the included screw gun bit tip. The setscrew will dimple the seam material but will not penetrate it.
*See more detailed installation instructions below.
*S-5! clamps may be moved in the event of initial misplacement. However, due to the ensuing oxidation process which acts as a natural thread lock, we can express no opinion to the performance of a clamp once it has been removed and reinstalled or the ability to remove the clamp after this process has occurred.
