SnoRail™ - Snow Rails for Metal Roof

Architectural, Snow Rails for Metal Roof Systems That Reduce the Risk of Snow Sliding off Standing Seam and Copper Metal Roofs.

SnoRail Brochure

Is S-5! SnoRail the Right Choice for Your Metal Roof?

You don’t have to compromise form or function when it comes to choosing snow rails for your metal roof. Its non-intrusive, cylindrical shapes and smooth lines make it an architectural favorite. Our roof snow guard system in aluminum is suited to zinc, aluminum and coated steel roofs. The brass version is available for use on copper and lead-coated, copper roofs.

SnoRail’s ⅜” (10 mm) single-rod assembly provides a slender high-tech, architectural look, while still offering durable performance in light and medium-duty applications.

Are you looking for a two-rail snow retention system? See SnoFence, VersaGard, DualGard and X-Gard 2.0.

S-5! SnoRail Benefits:

  • Easy installation
  • Quality construction without the inconsistencies of soldered snow guards
  • Sleek, low-profile architectural aesthetics
  • Available in brass for copper batten or standing seam roofs
  • Be sure to check out the many other benefits on the snow guard overview page

Aluminum SnoRail

SnoRail Features

  • Low-cost, one-rail snow retention system
  • Clamps are available in aluminum or brass
  • SnoRod™ in stainless is the best choice for steel, aluminum and zinc roofs
  • SnoRod™ in brass is best for traditional copper roofing
  • Maximum clamp spacing is 24” (closer for heavier snow loads)
  • Be sure to check out the many other features on the snow guard overview page
  • S-5-ASF (“A” is for Architectural Aluminum) is suitable for use on vertical standing seams with ≤.40” seam width or horizontal (single-fold) dimension of ≥ .685”
  • S-5-BSF ("B" is for brass) is suitable for use:
    • On traditional double-folded copper standing seams with ≤.24″ compressed seam width
    • On traditional (batten seam) dimension of ≥.50”
    • Horizontally on single-fold copper roofing with seam dimensions ≥.65”

SnoRail Works for the Following Roof Types:

Spacer

Double-Folded Standing Seam

Spacer

Single-Folded Standing Seam

SnoRail Assembly is Available in Aluminum and Brass:

Aluminum/Stainless Snow Rail Components for Metal Roofs

S-5-ASF™ Clamp

Suitable for most vertical and horizontal standing seam profiles of all metals except copper (rotating the clamp 90º for horizontal seams); seam (thickness) dimension of .40″ or less

S-5-AE™

Used at a rate of one per 50′ of assembly and at ends of assembly in lieu of ASF clamp to “fix” SnoRod, preventing excessive lateral rod migration

SnoRod™

⅜” diameter solid stainless steel rod inserted through S-5-ASF clamps just above panel seams for SnoRail
Contact your S-5! distributor for pricing and details on stainless steel SnoRod. (Aluminum SnoRod is not recommended.)

SnoRod Coupling

Ensures end-to-end SnoRod alignment and continuity while allowing for thermal movement

SnoClip™

Retards migration of snow and ice beneath rods

Optional with user discretion but recommended on seam heights of 2” and greater

SnoClip is assembled to rod during installation.

This component is available in two sizes to accommodate various seam-height dimensions.

SnoRail Brass Works for the Following Roofs:

Spacer

Double-Folded Standing Seam (Brass)

Spacer

Single-Folded Standing Seam (Brass) S-5-BSF Only

Brass SnoRail Components

Use brass components on copper batten or standing seam roofs.

SnoClip™ is only made in aluminum and is not compatible with brass components.

S-5-BSF

Fits standing seam & batten seam profiles - 16 and 24-oz. copper seam thickness

  • Vertical application on traditional double-folded copper standing seams
  • For application on single-fold copper standing seam roofing, double folding is required at clamp locations
  • Horizontal application on traditional batten seam-fold dimension of ≥.50” (requires minor seam folding modification)

S-5-BE™ Clamp

Used at a rate of one per 50′ of assembly and at ends of assembly in lieu of BSF clamp to “fix” SnoRod, preventing excessive lateral rod migration

SnoRod

⅜” diameter solid brass rod inserted through S-5-BSF clamps just above panel seams for SnoRail

Contact your S-5! distributor for pricing and details on brass SnoRod.

SnoRod Coupling

Brass coupling ensures end-to-end rod alignment and continuity while allowing for thermal movement.
