As part of an $89 million redevelopment plan, Sydney's iconic North Sydney Olympic Pool incorporated rooftop solar to support facility operations and pool heating. S-5! mounting solutions helped secure the system and supporting equipment without penetrating the standing seam metal roof.
The redevelopment of the North Sydney Olympic Pool required integrating a commercial-scale solar power system onto a curved, lightweight metal roof within a protected heritage zone.
The roof's distinctive bulb-shaped standing seams and protective coatings required a secure, non-penetrating mounting approach that would preserve the roof's watertight integrity. The system also needed to withstand coastal salt exposure and high wind loads while accommodating thermal pipework, electrical conduit and existing rooftop equipment.
The redevelopment incorporated a 114 kW rooftop solar system as part of the modernization of the historic facility. Combining 550 W photovoltaic modules with CoolSheet® solar-thermal technology, the installation generates electricity while capturing thermal energy to support pool heating.
S-5! mounting solutions enabled secure, non-penetrating attachment of the solar array, thermal pipework and supporting equipment. The integrated system accommodates the roof's unique geometry while preserving its protective coatings, maintaining drainage paths and minimizing the risk of water ingress.

S-5! provided an integrated, non-penetrating mounting solution tailored to the pool's distinctive KingZip standing seam roof.
The S-5-Z Mini clamps securely attached the solar mounting hardware without damaging or distorting the seams. GRIPPERFIX provided adjustable support for thermal pipework and balance-of-system equipment, distributing loads across multiple seams, while CanDuit clamps secured conduit and pipework.
Together, the components simplified installation, maintained drainage paths and preserved the roof's integrity while accommodating its curved geometry and rooftop equipment.
